We are settling in nicely now. Most of the boxes have been unpacked. I said most, not all. I have the excess stacked neatly and as I have quite a lot of cupboard and wardrobe space these have been utilized. The townsfolk here are very friendly and most helpful so we have been made feel very welcome. We have quite a bit of work around the yard to keep us busy. The house had been vacant for around 2 years so the garden needs attention, but this is what we love doing so it is no problem. Things need a tidyup and we have some new found enthusiasm now. We are so glad we took the plunge and moved to the country. I have a few bush walking tracks not far from home, the wildflowers in spring are abundant and the town centre is just 1 kilometre away. The golf course will also be utilized, I am looking forward to playing here, in the near future. I will have to make aquaintances with the local computer business as the only problem I am having is a very slow internet connection which keeps on dropping in and out. Oh well we can't have everything can we. I have a lot of blogs to catch up with so I don't want to be out of action for too long.
Family and friends aren't convinced that we have done the right thing in moving, but HOM (husband of mine) and I are certain that we have made the right move. And that is what counts. A change is as good as a holiday.
Work In Progress
Beneath this tangled mess sits a garden seat.
Well done Linley and husband! I was wondering how it all went (the move). It's a lovely place and lots of new projects and adventures to be had from and in and around your new locale.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and happy days ahead!!

Thanks Rose,I am glad it is all over, normality slowly returning. Happy Easter.
DeleteHow exciting! A new place, a new beginning and less clutter! Good luck to you in your new home!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am not missing the clutter. Hubby also agrees now that less is more.
DeleteI hope it all goes as well as you hoped for. Are you near the sea or inland?
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane, I am loving the change.. We are in the Central Wheatbelt area, a little town called Wongan Hills
Deletea big job I've done many times over the years; this current stay of ten years is my longest to date. Balk at the thought of having to 'cull' as you mention to enable that down-sizing shift some day. All's good for you; the 'country' is a beautiful lifestyle to share with your husband; just enjoy each day.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your move, Linley - it takes courage to "swim against the tide"! Sounds like it is the right decision for you both and even after the exhaustion and excitement have abated, I'm sure there'll be lots of joy-filled hours for you and your husband as you settle in and place your stamp on your new surroundings. Enjoy to the maxx !! (and many thanks for taking time out of your unpacking to visit my blog - greatly appreciated.) I, too, would love a move to the country but at this stage it would not be practical, so I satisfy that inner yearning by frequent drives into the Adelaide Hills or along the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula.
