A lot of old concrete bus shelters in Perth have been spruced up with murals. This one is on Safety Bay Road in the coastal suburb of Safety Bay. The idea of allowing artists to decorate the bus shelters makes them more pleasing to the eye and also hopefully deters the graffiti artists vandals, apparently there is supposed to be an unwritten rule that they do not deface another artists work. Unfortunately, it still seems to open slather by some.

this is a cute one, so summery!
ReplyDeleteI like it for it is somewhat child-like. I feel graffiti artists have an unwritten code among themselves and prefer a blank "canvas" anyway. It is the graffiti "vandals" that give the graffiti artists a bad image.
ReplyDeleteSuch talent! Love the picture....wish I had it in my home!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. Though I am intrigued by the concrete bus shelters as ours are glass "for safety" and there is a debate on about covering the glass with advertising. I'd much rather look at a mural than adverts.
ReplyDeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely Linley and would be so suitable for my beach themed house!
ReplyDeletehee hee I like the cat on the surf board. It is a good idea to deter graffiti.
ReplyDeleteConcrete bus stops are so ugly... what a great idea, really cool!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. The mural completely distracts one from the materials used in the bus shelter. Light and cheerful and reflects the nearby ocean. Must remind you Perthians (is that a word?) that summer is around the corner. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
