Pelican Feeding At Kalbarri

These pics are from the archives, one just appeared on the screensaver so I thought it an appropriate posting for Wildbird Wednesday. At the coastal resort town of Kalbarri, Western Australia, local volunteers feed the pelicans daily. They turn up at the same time each  day for a fish.  They are not overfed so don't risk fending for themselves and  make a popular attraction for the tourists. I will show you some of the spectacular scenery from around the area in another post. 

Wildbird Wednesday

These pelicans are just about permanent fixtures on Coogee Beach Jetty. I have seen this one with the missing foot (commonly known as stumpy)  on numerous occasions. They know where to get a free feed when people are fishing on the jetty. They have a birds eye view from high up on the light tower.

Pelicans at Bremer Bay

As we walked the Paperbark Trail in the morning all the pelicans were well away from shore on the sandbar. On returning to our cabin at the caravan park, they had all started to come closer in. What magnificent birds they are, so graceful when coming in to land on the water. Linking with
