Reynoldson Reserve

This small stretch of bushland comes alive with colour during October through to December. There are seven varieties of verticordia along with grevillea, tea tree and others. The reserve is about 28 klms from Wongan Hills  taking the main road, or just 16klm as the crow flies. The Wongan Hills Visitor Centre is taking bus tours out to the reserve this weekend as part of The Reynoldson Reserve  Festival. Mid October, early November the reserve is at it's peak for the colourful verticordia.

Skywatching

It was nice to sit and enjoy a thermos of coffee out at Reynoldson Reserve  and watch the clouds rolling by. This area comes alive with colour from September through to December when the various verticordia flower, but at the present time is just nondescript bush. Sharing sky photos with

My first thought when looking at these clouds was "headless chook", warped imagination I know.

Verticordia at Reynoldson Reserve

This weekend we have the 8th Annual Reynoldson Reserve Festival happening in town. The verticordias are in glorious bloom about 25 klms from town. The tourist centre was running buses out to the reserve yesterday and today so I took the opportunity to jump on board and  get a few shots. The day was hot but didn't deter the out of town visitors or local alike.

This variety, verticordia eriocephala, is known common cauliflower, they are just beginning to flower.

These deep magenta coloured ones are Verticodia Venusta, they too are just beginning to flower
