The Visitor

Today I am going to tell you the story in pictures of one day last week when the Ibis came to visit. This particular bird has been a fixture around our town for quite some time, strutting around the streets and visiting just about every house whenever it takes his fancy.

Yoo Hoo any one home, I can see you through the window

The car is there, they must be home

Looking, looking

I will try the front door

Nah, still no answer, I will try the back door

First I will leave my calling card

They still wont let me in

Maybe I will do a bit of gardening while I am here

Oops, hence the saying, head down and bum up

I last saw him flying down to the bottom end of town.

House Guest

I have been looking after Buffy for the past week and a half while his Mum is on holiday in Victoria. As usual he has made himself quite at home and has taken over.

Good Fences with Critters

I haven't found too many interesting fences of late so a lunch with friends supplied me with this added bonus of a couple of  Good Fences and some Saturday's Critters

How cool do we look with our fly covers on, say the donkeys

Not to be out done, Mr Horse says look at my cool shades

And then the rains came and of course he had to have a roll

Streaky Bay, SA

Whilst in South Australia recently we had lunch at a little café overlooking beautiful Streaky Bay. Laying under the jetty out of the sun was this oldish looking seal who by the look of him has survived one or two shark attacks in his day. His injuries look as though they are healing.  I wasn't that  game to get too close to him, as I know they can move pretty quickly when they are disturbed.

Visitors to Town

I was on duty at the Visitors Centre on Thursday when I spotted these visitors trotting down the main street. Luckily for me they did a quick turnaround to talk to someone on the footpath and it gave me time to race out and quickly grab my small camera which I keep in  the glovebox of my car. Just goes to show, always keep your camera ready as you don't know what will suddenly appear. I was quite a distance away and used all my 8 x zoom so apologies for the quality of the shots.

Picton NZ

Whilst waiting for the Inter Islander Ferry to travel to Wellington in the North Island we were entertained by a couple of seals frolicking around the Picton Marina.   I also managed a few reflections  in the beautiful water of The Marlborough Sounds.

A beautiful shimmer of sunlight on the Sounds

Once we reached the open waters of Cook Straight the sea changed quickly

By the time we reached Wellington the beautiful sunny sky had been replaced with dark clouds and rain

Saturday's Critters

A couple more pics from my recent trip to Donnelly River. Sharing with  Saturdays Critters

A kookaburra keeping watch on one of our walks

Old man Emu patrolling the village

The rubbish bins all have clips on the lids so the kangaroos can't open them, this one kept trying

A splash of red caught my eye, these little robins don't stay still for long.
