Wildlife At Donnelly River Village

Donnelly River Village is an old timber mill town now used as holiday homes. It is a very popular spot in the Karri Forest to just get away and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. There are no TV's in the cottages, no mobile phone coverage, no internet. If someone needs to reach you they can leave a message at the General Store and it will get passed onto you. Board games are the norm in the evening rather than being glued to the TV, bush walking during the day or just sitting back with a good book.  The wildlife  roam freely around the village, visiting each cottage to see what is available for dinner.  This great spot is like a step back into the 1950's or 60's. The cottages have retained that feel, but with a few mod cons such as microwave and electric cookers. All have wood burning stoves for that snuggly winter feel. Here are a few of the animals that visited our cottage.
Linking today with Eileen's Saturday Critters

This emu headed straight for our table and tried to take a scone. The caretaker came to our rescue with a broom in hand, apparently the emus don't like the broom, maybe they think they will be turned into one.

  1. What a great place to visit and get away from it all. It must have been so fun to see the emu and what I'm guessing are wallabys. Wonderful post!

  2. It must be a very relaxing place. I visited a place "unplugged" from the world recently and I found I got tired/sleepy at a good time. Better than I do at home. It is always good to have a nice rest and enjoy the nature around you. Great shots.
