Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse

Historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is situated at the most south westerly tip of Australia, standing at the point where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet - 8 kilometres west of Augusta, in the South West of Western Australia. If you are feeling energetic you can climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse for magnificent views. It is 39 metres tall and 56 metres above sea level. The white limestone lighthouse looks  striking against a clear blue sky.

A fence to make sure you pay to get in

When the weather is rough you can supposedly  see where the two oceans meet.

  1. It sure does stand out! Wonder how often it needs painting.

  3. Lighthouses fascinate me. While visiting Maine in 2004 for our 25th wedding anniversary, we made a point to see as many of these coastal beauties possible. The 4th photo you captured is especially nice. It shows the loneliness of the lighthouse on the finger of land that stretched out into the ocean. Have a foto-tastic weekend! ;)

  4. Fantastic lighthouse photos, gotta love our Aussie blue skies, I can tell you a British lighthouse never looks as white or as good against grey skies! I would fancy climbing to the top - these days just to prove that I still can, dodgy knee and all :)
    Have a happy weekend Linley
