Donnelly River Village

Recently, for my birthday, we spent the weekend at Donnelly River Village, an old timber milling town in the forest between Bridgetown, Nannup and Manjimup in the South West of Western Australia. Timber milling ceased in 1978 and in the early 80's the town began a new life as a holiday destination for families. The old houses are reminiscent of the 1950's. Very basic but comfortable. It is like taking a step back in time. Kangaroos, emus and a variety of birds wander about the village and pop in for a feed. It was wonderful watching all the kids (not mine)  outside playing, riding their bikes and amusing themselves instead of being indoors with computer games and TV's. The houses do not have TV's in them and they are not missed. No mobile phone reception either. Just pure bliss.

  2. It was a complete surprise Rose, I expected maybe to see the odd bit of wildlife but I didn't expect to have to keep the back door shut to stop them from entering the house !!

PS - you may want to remove "word verification" and just use comment moderation if you are getting spam. It is VERY hard to get those letters and numbers correct in word verification.

    1. Kerri I will have to figure out how to change the settings, I didn't realise it was set to Word Verification. I also find it hard to get them correct when I comment on some blogs. Cheers.
