Todays fence comes from Greenough in Western Australia. Inside of the fence is The Leaning Tree, one of many in the area growing along the ground due to the strong winds that have shaped them over the years.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating tree! I have seen trees distorted by wind but not like this one. And it's still alive! The fence is also interesting in design. Thanks for sharing. Pamela

ReplyDeleteOh my- that is strange! Very cool.
ReplyDeleteWow...love this!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I think I've got almost the same photo as the 2nd one - thought the tree was amazing when I saw it for the first time last year!!!
ReplyDeleteWe live in River Red-gum country, same species but luckily our winds are not that strong or persistent. We do have quite terrible northerlies here. One can gauge the historical prevailing winds by just looking at trees. When our poplars were planted in the wild wood, there must have been a few seasons of easterlies. In other places on the farm the lean away from is from westerlies. Winds are often local phenomena.
ReplyDeletethat is definitely an interesting leaning tree. so cool! ( :
